TCP podcast Episode 9: Setting the record straight about 6th Ed

Jeff and I have done and dusted another episode of the podcast over on TCP.

This was a blast to do, I hope you enjoy it.

Here are the release notes:

This Episode Jeff and Jim go with out notes and let the listeners basically be a fly on the wall of one of their typical conversations. They feel it is important to step up early and tell the community that despite all the negative rants about 6th Ed that they felt the need to set the record straight.

Having not completely dissected every aspect of the game start looking at the movement and shooting phases with a great deal to follow in the days ahead. As they normally do Jim and Jeff go against the flow and defend 6Th Ed as an amazing accomplishment and far and away the best version of 40K ever printed.

The two review some of the real highlights in movement and shooting that make this game so much better than its predecessors and talk about the design philosophy they feel GW’s Studio followed in its creation. Always being even handed they do point out where some problems exist but stress the very minor nature of those problems.

Also Jeff and Jim have a few words for the Tournament Organizers and how they might best embrace this amazing new version of our favorite game.

  2. Slick. :) I'm tired of everyone's bitching. I can't wait to play my first game. It all sounds like a lot of fun.

  3. Thanks for the comments guys!

@Son of Dorn, I totally understand what you are saying. The whining is already old and unproductive!

  4. This is how you should do every Episode of the TCP PodCast Jim, it's nice to have that 'First hand Fly on the wall" Perspective that you talked about. It really goes a long way to making the Listener feel as though they are listening in on two guys talking about something they know and love.

Sounds strange to say but it really does show in exactly how you and Jeff spoke. I could feel Jeffs anger at GW for the fumble on the Shipment of the Rules (35 Day wait for Codex: Grey Knights right here) but even as upset as he was you stayed on track and kept a level head between the two of you.

I demand more of the same! LOL

  5. As always, your perspective is positive, fun, and one which I rather enjoy hearing (so keep voicing it). A majority of the post I have read (and I have read A LOT) seem to embrace the game. A few folks (tournament players) are having a hard time with the wound allocation, challenge breakage, and some of the missions, but overall I think these change will just emerge as a different way of playing what appears to be a solid edition. The TOs, thru the IGTC (i forgot exactly the group) should make whatever changes they deem fit to the problems they see, standardize them, and push forward for tournaments (as we did in 5th with mission types styles NOVA).

  6. Thanks for the positive feedback guys! Jeff and I have already decided to keep this new format as we really enjoyed the way it flowed.

I am sure that the TO's will make it through this change just fine.
