Farewell to all my Blogger friends

This is the end of Galaxy in Flames. Someone has reported every single fan document I have shared with you guys over the years as a violation of copyright and has gotten my Box.com account permanently suspended. Without those 40k resources there is no reason to keep this blog going.

I have moved on to bigger and Greater things with Prodos Games, Warzone Resurrection and Aliens versus Predator. I am a very busy guy now, and really do not have time to blog. So the blog has been virtually dead for almost a year.

Eventually when I have a bit more time I may come back to blogging, and I figure I might as well have a clean slate when I do.

I would like to thank everyone that has followed my journey here for doing so, because of GiF I have made some incredible friends that will remain with me even without blogging. If it were not for Galaxy in Flames I would have never gotten into podcasting either which was great fun. This has been a great experience thanks again!

In the next week or so I will be pulling the blog down, thanks for the wild ride guys I really appreciate it!

Cheers,
Jim

  2. No chance of recovering all these files you worked so hard on? Shame, then. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication to this endeavor.

  3. Sadly no, most original files were lost with my last computer. I was not worried about them since they were on my Box account. Lesson learned.

    1. The wonders of the internet is that people you know have those files. Maybe no one has all of them but someone has each one.

As you say, never use a public drive as your backup.

  4. Probably not hard to guess what company with a history or overclaiming their IP this could possibly be. I personally think you really did not even go far enough. Way to many times you have to back to other rules. I could see a trademark violation but copyright is not correct.

    1. IDK who it was, but they even reported my how to place terrain properly PDF. It all feels kinda vindictive. Oh well greener pastures and all that.

  5. Fan properties, fiction and FREE PUBLICATIONS are not a trademark violation, and are often covered under their own set of rules and regulations. If you try and make money off of it, then there would be a case, but you haven't and you don't...

Okay, I could go off, but I won't. Jim, even though I too am sliding towards other games, the 40K community will mourn you, man. Always an inspiration you are and you work just for the sheer pleasure of the game was always appreciated here. I hope to see you again at Adepticon this coming March and would love to learn more about Warzone and AvP. ALWAYS have been a huge fan of AvP.

    1. Thanks for the kind words Tim, I appreciate it. While I am sad that all my work has been removed, the title of this thread is a bit too knee jerk for me.

I will stick around to see y'all when I can. I may even leave the site up as a place holder for when I have time to blog.

Yes I do intend to be at Adepticon next year, that is if I ever hear back from them. I want to go as a vendor for Prodos and share the Warzone and AvP love with everyone there!

  7. Jim, thank you for everything you've done for the hobby and for all your efforts. I have greatly enjoyed reading the posts on Galaxy in Flames, and following your blog. Your links to your work on this blog was one of the inspirations behind me taking the plunge in posting documents, material, scenarios and painting guides to Google Drive on my own blog. It might not feel like a great consolation at this time, but I'd like to thank you for all you tried to do, and you should know that it has inspired many to try and do something similar. Take care, mate, and all the best for the future!

  8. Sorry to see you hanging up the hat on this, but I know how busy life gets, and how it requires focus on the critical things so that we can still enjoy the fun things. So good luck to you on that, and hopefully we'll see you posting new and amazing stuff soon.
