I've finally got my painting groove back! Sometimes it's funny the models that inspire you when you are in a painting rut. I've really been trying hard to get some painting done on my character minis for my Reapers and Wolves, but just wasn't making any real headway.
Then I was sitting here yesterday and this Aspiring Champ model just started screaming at me to be painted. Who am I to argue with the powers of Chaos!?!
Well as you can see he is painted and I am working on the other three Aspiring Champs I had sitting next to him.
I like it. Great mix of parts from the possessed Possessed sprues (specially that Claw o' Doom).
ReplyDeleteExcellent model Jim. I really like the feel of this model. Squirrel_Fish is right that the addition of the Possessed Sprues really gaave this model the right touch.
ReplyDeleteKeep them coming!
Nice work Jim! I like the subtle highlighting (e.g. on the un-mutated fist), it really brings a depth to the miniature!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback guys! I love the possessed miniatures and just had to use them. I am thinking of using the bodies for my Chosen as well. For the Chosen heads I'm going to use the Forgeworld Zerker upgrade heads and shave off the bunny ears.

One more comment here approving of the use of Possessed bits. It just gives the model that... wrongness... that a good Chaos model needs! Also, the paint job is fantastic, and I really like the basing as well.
ReplyDeleteAwesome work mate.
ReplyDeleteVERY nice! The pose, color scheme, bitz used, and everything else all come together in this guy. I think your army coloration works really well on this Champ, maybe because the very bold red and black are spaced out by the slightly cooler reddish-grey (purplish?), bone, and metal colors. I'm a big fan of the Possessed bits as well, but oddly only when used in moderation - they seem a bit "over the top" to me when used for a whole figure (even the "official" GW Possessed, despite the great painting - now the Flawless Host Lord from the Codex, that's a whole different shade of awesome).
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks guys! I really do appreciate the feedback.
ReplyDeleteI agree Tin the possessed parts are best when used in moderation.

(New follower) Love it! I'm now inspired to get the possessed box just for bits.
ReplyDeleteDitto tinweasels comment on the paint scheme - as a whole the miniature looks "full" - i.e. there are no sparse/plain bits that detract from the model, but without looking overcrowded.
(Hope that came across as intended)
Thanks Andy, you came across just fine.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your visits here to GiF!
Thanks again,
-Jim
really love that mate... good job..
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mate!
