Question time: how many scenarios?



I was initially planning 5 different scenarios to use in your Spec Ops Killzone missions. Then I was thinking 6 or 8 might be better for variety. I really want to offer maximum variety to the players who are not creating their own campaign setting.

I have got the first scenario up, and have three more written. I need to settle on a number of scenarios to include in the initial release for playtesting.

I am being indecisive and need your help. How many scenarios/missions would you like to see in the initial Killzone Supplement?

I have also decided to hold off on Scenario II: Sentry Grid until tomorrow as there has been little feedback on Scenario I.

  2. I would vote for 6, if only for D6 convenience. It's not the best reason, I'm sure, but it'll do.

  3. I'd go with six for the same reason as stated above. I enjoy that mechanic but it's never felt satisfying to me when #6 on the mission table reads "your choice" or something similar.

  5. 20! I have lots of unloved d20's from my AD&D days that are only getting used to delineate deployment zones at the moment!

    Only kidding: 6 sounds good from the d6 point of view, much as other people have said.

  6. 6 seems like the best solution. Any more and it becomes harder to create unique scenarios.

  7. I'm breaking from the pack and saying ten, yes, a whopping ten. Scenarios make the game great, and you really can't get enough of a good thing.

    Mind you, as Bryss points out, it's hard to come up unique scenarios, and the higher the number, the greater this chance, but still...

  8. Ok, I'll probably go with 6 for a start then work on a few extras later.

    It's the unique objective mechanics that are the hardest thing to make. The scenarios themselves are pretty darned simple.

  9. More is good. We like what you have done so much, we be pimping your stuff on our show as the thing to do for small games. Screw 4th/5th ed Kill team. Killzone is the way to go :)

    Just keep in mind, there is still a lot of work to put in the rules and playtesting to be done.

  11. I am late to the conversation, but I think that 6 is the perfect number to start with; playtesting is sure to lead to tweaks and alternate ideas, which will add to the scenario pool.
