Spec Ops Killzone Beta test rules Available now

Well after a few weeks of intense discussion and hard work, the Beta test version of Killzone is here.

For those that have not heard of Spec Ops Killzone:

Special Operations Killzone is a set of fan designed rules created with the intent of enabling players to run skirmish games within the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

It is intended as a supplemental way to play the game, and as such a set of Games Workshop’s core rules and Codices for any armies used is essential to understand and play this ruleset.

Players will choose an elite team and undertake vital actions set against the stage of wider conflict. This ruleset aims to enable cinematic play in the style of tier one assets of a universe at war.

For more information chack out the following Downloads:

The Scenario book offers you the first 12 missions, there will be another 6 available in October.

Help us make killzone the best fan based 40k skirmish system available. Your input is valuable to us.

Feel free to join the Killzone forums and give us your direct feedback. This forum is where the Rules Committee did the balance of the hard work put into this project.

Edit 9-7-10 3:10 PM PST: The Errata has been updated with the following info:

Even with all this hard work and planning we need to temporarily errata the errata. You know what they say about the best laid plans......

The Space Marine Errata is missing the following entries.

Tactical marines

0-1 Tactical sergeant

Scouts

0-1 Scout sergeant

I would like to thank everyone for the support that they have given me while making the Killzone project happen. I appreciate the continued support.

Until the next....

  1. Will definitely have to download these rules so you don't spank me to bad when we play the first week in October.

Just a quick glance shows that a lot of hard work was put into this. Congrats on getting the beta version live so fast!

  2. Glad to see these come out. We're not the most steadfast 40k gamers, but we'll try to squeeze some games in to give you as much feedback as you can get. Kudos...

  3. Very cool stuff, I'm really excited about trying them out. I registered at the forum and will let you know how things go. So far I have run into problems getting the errata and scenarios to download though that could easily be due to something on my end. Earlier I was able to get the rules downloaded without any problem and will keep trying to get the other items as well.

  6. These look amazing! I looked through all the PDFs and I cannot wait until Thursday when I'll be able to print them out and put them in a fancy laminated binding. I've started telling my friends and might even do a small campaign in out local GW. Hoping that the store owner will let us give it a go!

  8. Big Jim:

Last night I was playing with the new rule set and the errata, and a question came up with the scout biker and the use of cluster mines. We played it first as if one character jumped on the mine and took all 2d6 (8) 4str hits...

The second game that we played we tried to use a template (large blast for proximity) and then rolled the 2d6 for total hits for the models in the area of the template...

  10. Thanks for the comments.

Rath, you actually found something we missed, could you do me a favor and post this on the Killzone forums. (linked above) This way the guys in the rules committee can work out an official answer for the next update of the Errata.

I like both methods that you tried, good stuff on the fly!

Dee, yes it has been brought up.
